Head Coach and Owner - Jeff Larsh CPT

The head trainer and founder of Pure Power Hockey has a rich background in both training hockey players and playing at a high level himself. Jeff Larsh was drafted 23rd overall by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the 2001 OHL Priority Draft. Jeff played five seasons in the OHL, 3 with the Greyhounds and 2 with the St. Michael's Majors.  Jeff also played 4 years with the Dalhousie Tigers of the highly competitive Atlantic University Sport hockey division in which he was the captain his final year.

As a trainer, Jeff has accumulated many certifications.  He is a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) and a Specialist in Sports Conditioning (SSC) and a Certified Fitness Trainer (CFT) through the International Sports Science Association (ISSA). He also has his Olympic Lifting certification through Crossfit.  Jeff also has his Level I Coaching qualification through The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).

Jeff has been specifically focusing on the training of hockey players for the last 6 years. During this time he has written and implemented hundreds of programs designed to increase hockey players fitness capabilities on the ice.  Jeff is completing his Honours Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University in April.  Over the last season Jeff also took upon the responsibility as the Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Dalhousie Varsity Men's Hockey Program.

Louke Oakley CFT

Louke Oakley is a committed member of the Pure Power Hockey Strength and Conditioning Staff.  He loves to push our athletes to their limits and challenge each of them daily to strengthen their determination to get better.  

Louke currently plays NCAA D1 hockey for Clarkson University.  Louke's love for the game and relentless efforts to better himself beyond the ice make him a truly invaluable source of knowledge and motivation.  Louke preaches preparation in both sport and in education.  Life skills such as discipline, courage and commitment are all emphasized each and every session, so that athletes leave the gym better people as well as better players. These skills are essential in the preparation for life on and off the ice. 

Lastly, Louke leads by example.  His work ethic as a coach and player allows him to ask more of his athletes, to demand the best out of everyone in order to help them achieve there goals and dreams.  

Dustin Ekelman

 

Dustin Ekelman is a dedicated, passionate individual and we are proud to have him as a member of the Pure Power Hockey Strength and Conditioning staff. His remarkable work ethic and upbeat attitude creates a positive atmosphere that assists our athletes in achieving and exceeding their personal goals.

 

Dustin has recently concluded his fourth year in the Ontario Hockey League, where he spent all four years playing for the St. Michaels Majors organization. His leadership abilities both on and off the ice have resulted in him being named an assistant captain. Dustins superb experience in training and personal fitness combined with his willingness to learn make him a valuable asset and an exceptional role model for our athletes.  He plans on continuing playing hockey at the CIS University level and furthering his knowledge of the body and training by working towards a Bachelors in Kinesiology Degree. His motivational skills help our athletes turn intense training sessions into productive results on the ice.
